2011 Movies ~ A Sea of Sequels and maybe a few rare gems

We all know that the 2010 summer movie season was a little less bang then usual. Will 2011 save the summer blockbuster season, or will we get another year of lame Sequels and dumb down mainstream movies?

Let's start with the Sequels, cause you all know Hollywood loves to cash in using any short cuts it can.

Final Destination 5 ~ Really? Like, Really? We need another Final Destination? Looks like Eric Heisserer thinks so.For those not  familiar with the past FOUR movies, its about a bunch of kids who try to escape death's design, but in the end, death always seems to get them. This time the film is going to open up with a bridge scene and is going to be in 3D, of course. The 4th movie just felt like the idea of Final Destination was getting kinda old, and I don't really see how the 5th one is going to save the series.

Final Destination, Following Saw's Footsteps
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ~ I thought this movie series was dead after the third movie, but I guess Disney decided to pull a Indiana Jones move to release number 4. In fact, Jonney Depp is looking for the fountain of youth and fights Black Beard. This is more of a reboot kinda, as some of the old characters are getting replaced with new ones. (Such as the villain). So this title holds promise and might give some fresh air to the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Kung Fu Panda 2 ~ Yes, our favorite Jack Black talking Kung Fu Panda is back for another round. This time with the Kaboom of Doom. It appears that a Peacock, is trying to get of Kung Fu, so the Jack Black Panda and his fighting force must join together to save Kung Fu. Sounds like crack? Maybe, but if Dreamwork's  is able to pull off the story like they did with the first one, this might be a great family movie. But Dreamworks is going a little sequel crazy. There is two more How to Train Your Dragons in the work and plans of Kung Fu Panda turning into six movies. Someone, please help us!

The Hangover Part 2~ Did you ever wonder if the characters from the Hangover where able to attend the wedding and get married? Well if you would like me, I was hangover on cola and didn't care. But here comes Part 2, which picks up right after the first movie leaves off. This is a attempt to make more money because the first one did so well. I don't think the Hangover needs a sequel, and I doubt it will be able to live up the first one. After seeing Due Date, I just don't have high hopes for this Hangover.

And a Sequel you'll forget
Scream 4 ~ Oh Wes Craven, he really enjoyed the fail piece of crap that was My Soul to take. Please, enlighten us with some more Scream. The film series was suppose to stop after the 3rd film, but hey hey, some one gets the idea to do another. This just seems like more Sequel trash to me, and after seeing My Soul To Take, I really don't think Wes can pull this off.

Scream for Sequels
Cars 2 ~ Finally, a sequel that has some promise. Cars, powered behind the awesome team that is Pixar, may be a good sequel. Seeing how they handled Toy Story 3, I think Pixar will be able to do the same for cars. Judging from the trailer,  it looks like things are more epic then the first movie with chases, evil spy cars and more. Pixar has not made a bomb yet, so we have something to look froward to here.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon ~ Oh Michael Bay, please give us more explosions and CGI robots. Well, our wishes have come true, as there is a third film coming into the series. Expect, Hold on Megan Fox fans, she has decided to leave this sinking ship. Thus there will be a new relationship love interest in this sequel. This time the film will be about some space race between the USA and Russia. But be sure to expect all of Michael Bay's trademarks.

Spy Kids 4: All The Time In the World ~ That's right, remember Spy Kids? Well, looks like they are trying to reboot this dead series. Taking place 8 years after the last film, Spy Kids 4 will focus on new characters this time. Although there will be appearances from a few old buddies. What can I say, who has all the time in the world to watch all these insane sequels?

Old school 3D, bitches
X-men First Class: ~ Like we need another X-men movie, and to make things more confusing, its the fifth film in the series, but a prequel to the first three movies. But a Sequel to the 4th film, which was also a prequel, and, uh, forget it. >____>

Well, there you go. Your summer movie forecast is going to be filled with a rainstorm blizzard of Sequels. And it won't stop there, there is a Paranormal Actively 3, Happy Feet 2, Puss in Boots (which is more a spin off, but STILL) Alvin and the Chimp-monks, and and and..............................................................
