MAC OSX Lion Review ~ The Lion Roars a mixed bag

Mac OSX Lion, it looked like it was going to be the best OS X yet,  with lots of new freatures. Since Snow Leopard was pretty behind the scenes, but did it deliver. Well, its a mixed bag. Well is what I liked and didn't like about Apple's lasted Cat.

Mac OSX Lion Pros:

Mission Control ~ Although Apple kinda merged Spaces and expose together, they did it rather well. Its pretty easy to use the full screen Apps (which right now only contest of Apple's own apps, plus a few others) and have multiple desktops open at once. The Dashboard now has its own screen, so it no appears over your windows and desktop. Overall, a cool Lion feature.

Full Screen Apps ~ Now the Apps can take up the whole screen, leaving you and the app just to work together. I find that it works great with Iphoto and ical when you need the extra space. Plus full screen Photobooth is fun to.

The Log in Screen ~ Has been updated with a cleaner and nicer look.

Mac OSX Lion Cons:

LaunchPad ~ Granted, the idea of mixing IOS and Mac OS sounded like a bad idea, and it kinda was. The Launch Pad is like organizing apps on your iphone, but brought to the desktop. But I find it kinda useless as the dock and Application folder on the dock work so much better, and its not like your opening apps that often that you need a LaunchPad for them.

The Bugs ~ It has been known that OS launch'es have always been kinda buggy in their frist release, but I think Lion is the worst out of them all. The worst bug I have is when I try to play a youtube video and the entire screen freezes, like, I thought that wasn't suppose to happen on your OS Apple.

Resume ~ This feature sounded pretty cool on paper, but now that I have seen it in action I can say that is more trouble then its worth. The problem is that you often keep a app open if your working on it, and close it when you want a clean stale. Take preview for example, I open a PDF to look it and close the app. Next time I open a new PDF file, the one I was reading earlier appears, so now you have to close the windows themselves when you want a fresh start.

The New Finder ~ When you open the finder for the frist time, you get this new thing called All my files, but I have found it doesn't work all that well and its pretty useless, since I know where all my files are located. Also, the user library folder has been hidden, and you now need a keyboard shortcut to access it. Plus the icons on the finder sidebar are now all gray, just like itunes. Overall, the new changes to finder are not up my ally.

So far, it seems like I don't really like Apples new OS Lion, but that might change over time if the bugs get fixed and some of the Resume options are made easier to access and control. But for $30 bucks, its super affordable and easy to download. So if you want to be on board the lasted OS, I would recommend getting it. But if you can wait, I would wait till the .1 or .2 release.
