3D of the Future, is it Good Or Bad?

It seems that everything is going 3D. All the big movies are going 3D, tvs are going into the 3D business, and even Nintendo is entering the 3D arena with its upcoming Nintendo 3DS. But is it good for us?

Look at 3D movies, it costs a extra 4 dollar fee to see a 3D movie. Add that to the all ready expensive movie ticket, and your looking at burning your cash. Just for something that kinda adds to the film experienced. Have you ever seen a 3D movie just for the 3D. Not likey, 3D won't save a movie from being bad or good. It just kinda adds a nice effect on the side.

To me, it seems like a gimmick to make a quick extra buck. $4 extra dollars is just way to much for something that doesn't add to much to the film experience. And never, NEVER, see a movie that has its 3D done in post, like Alice in Wonderland or Clash of the Titan. In order to take advantage of the technology, the movie has to be shot in 3D.

I was kinda glad that Harry Potter Part 1 was not in 3D. When watching the movie, you could tell where they wanted to put the 3D effects in. (like with the snake) As you can see, the 3D is not what made Harry Potter a success. It all depends on the plot, acting and how it was put together.

And a 3D TV will break your bank to. Plus you only have so many glasses and can only view from a certain angle to make the effect work.  Truth is, most people just don't want to go though that extra effort just for something as cheap as 3D. Plus there is not a lot of media that supports 3D yet. So it seems kinda pointless to spend so much on 3D.

Now one piece of technology that does seem interesting is the Nintendo 3DS. The coolest thing about this piece of technology is that you don't need glasses to make it work, and adding 3D to videogames might be awesome. Since there is more interaction, you can do more with the 3D. Horror videogames might have a new look on the Nintendo 3DS. Of course, my opinion might change once it comes out, but we won't know until it comes out.

The 3D without the glasses sounds pretty cool. But I am also worried if AD company's got a hold of the technology. Just think about it, your walking though the mall, and then you see a 3D ad shooting soda at you. It would be madness.
